Terms & Conditions
Terms & Conditions for Therapy Services
Last updated: 26th January 2026
You have received this contract because you have booked a 50-minute consultation with Renate Uijtewaal via the Calendly booking link.
These Terms & Conditions set out the agreement between you (the client) and me (the therapist). Please read them carefully. By booking and attending therapy sessions, you are agreeing to these terms.
1. Professional Standards
I am a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and I adhere to the BPS Code of Ethics and Conduct, including principles of respect, competence, responsibility, and integrity. My practice is informed by evidence‑based approaches and ongoing professional development.
2. Nature of Therapy
Therapy is a collaborative process that aims to support your emotional wellbeing, personal growth, and psychological health. While therapy can be very helpful, outcomes cannot be guaranteed and change may take time. You remain responsible for your own decisions and actions during and after therapy.
Therapy is not a crisis or emergency service. If you are in immediate danger or feel unable to keep yourself safe, please contact emergency services, your GP, or a crisis line (e.g. NHS 111, Samaritans on 116 123).
3. Appointments & Attendance
- Sessions typically last 50 minutes, unless otherwise agreed.
- Sessions may take place in person on the boat.
- Please aim to arrive on time. Late arrival may result in a shortened session, which will still be charged in full.
- If you wish to rebook a consultation, please use the Calendly link again to do so.
4. Cancellations & Missed Sessions
- A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling.
- Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed sessions, are usually charged at the full fee.
- Exceptions may be made at my discretion in exceptional circumstances.
5. Fees & Payment
- Fees are £50 per 50-minute session, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Payment is required in full within 48hr of booking your consultation slot.
- Unpaid fees may result in suspension or termination of therapy.
6. Confidentiality
Confidentiality is a core part of therapy. What you share will not be disclosed to others without your consent, except in the following circumstances:
- If there is a serious risk of harm to you or others
- If a child or vulnerable adult is at risk of harm
- If required by law or court order
- For clinical supervision purposes (details are anonymised)
I will always aim to discuss any need to break confidentiality with you wherever possible.
7. Data Protection & Records
I comply with UK data protection legislation (including GDPR).
- Brief clinical notes are kept securely.
- Records are stored for the legally required period.
- You have the right to request access to your personal data.
Further details are available in my Privacy Notice.
8. Contact Between Sessions
Contact between sessions is limited to practical matters such as scheduling. Therapeutic support is provided within session time only
9. Ending Therapy
You may end therapy at any time. If possible, I encourage at least one ending session to reflect on the work and support a thoughtful ending.
I may also end therapy if:
- Therapy is no longer beneficial
- Boundaries are repeatedly breached
- Fees remain unpaid
- I believe another service would better meet your needs
Where appropriate, I will aim to discuss this with you and offer referrals.
10. Complaints
If you have any concerns about the therapy, I encourage you to raise them with me directly so we can try to resolve them together.
If this is not resolved, you may follow the British Psychological Society complaints procedure. Further details can be found on the BPS website.
11. Agreement
By booking and attending sessions, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
