Breastfeeding Coach & Psychologist

Hi, I’m Renate, founder of The Breastfeeding Boat.

A mother of two, certified psychologist and breastfeeding supporter in London, I’m originally from the Netherlands and have lived in four countries before settling here in 2017.

After 20 years in corporate communications and project management, training in psychology felt like a natural shift towards work that’s more meaningful and aligned with my values.

The Breastfeeding Boat grew from knowing just how isolating and emotional a breastfeeding journey can be. The aim was to create the kind of support I wish I’d had myself: informal, welcoming, and real. A place where you can feel heard, ask questions, and leave with more confidence.

Evidence-based & Compassionate Support

My support is grounded in lived experience, evidence-based research and hands-on practice. Training with The Breastfeeding Network, ongoing work towards IBCLC certification, and qualification as a Postpartum Transition Coach all shape the way care is offered.

A background in psychology helps support mothers through the transition into motherhood, holding space without judgement and meeting you exactly where you are, so you can trust yourself and your baby a little more as you find your own way forward.
